VIDEO: Milkweed is a mega food for many insects: ants, flies, bees, wasps and butterflies—especially monarchs. Interestingly contains levels of glycoside which is toxic to most animals and some insects. Some insects use it as a defensive mechanism – stored in tissues it can be toxic to predators (birds). Not toxic to monarchs.
