My map-based works are created on road maps from the U.S. and other international locations. By the time I finish painting and drawing on them the original maps are almost indiscernible. In some works, the roads become rivers or are clogged with flowering vines. In others, coastlines are flooded and inland seas re-hydrated.
In all of the work, erosion, water, overgrown plant life and fungi have replaced humanity as the determining force on the land. With my earliest works the alterations could represent the geological past as well as the future.
