Note: This drawing was made in response to the reaction I had to Waterworks: France, 2005. In the earlier drawing I made France disappear – people naturally thought it was a negative comment about France’s lack of support for the Iraq war. It was not—I did not support the Iraq war. It was a purely visual decision, but that was/is hard to defend. So, I created this drawing in which French “Culture” (read yeast) is taking over the world.
